Anaho Bay Manta Rays

8° 49.5′ S · 140° 3.8′ W

Manta rays patrol Anaho Bay and are often seen from the anchorage or while snorkelling; the Kaniho family also runs outings to see them.

Practical

Coordinate is the Anaho anchorage (Sugar Shack, Dec 2019: 08°49.46'S 140°03.76'W, compendium). Kandu (2016): good snorkelling, clear water, 'often times manta rays'. The official brief (2023) lists manta-ray outings among Restaurant Camping Kaniho's activities (tel 40 92 07 16). Give mantas space: no touching or chasing, and no lights under the boat at night (a rule in the brief).

Best for

Swimming with mantas from a calm anchorage
