Akamaru Inner Lagoon (shallow draft)

23° 10.4′ S · 134° 55.1′ W

A tiny, glassy sand lagoon off Remy's houseboat in front of Mekiro, accessible only to boats drawing about 1.4 m or less.

Practical

Coordinate from Sugar Shack (April 2020): 1.4 m of sand, entered with 1.3 m draft. They also anchored nearby at 23 deg 10.3559'S 134 deg 55.0986'W in 1.5 m (Jan 2022). Enter only at high tide, with the sun high, on a calm clear day, weaving between many bommies. Remy (+689 87 23 89 37) or Louise (+689 87 25 22 51) can guide you in. The little pass leading to the shelf has only a thin layer of sand over coral, so holding there is poor in stronger winds. Remy used to farm pearls and may sell loose pearls and fruit (2021).
