Agakauitai Island (permission required)
23° 9.9′ S · 135° 1.9′ W · approximate
Agakauitai, the cliff-backed island east of Taravai's south bay, is the home of a resident named Manu. Ask him before going ashore. When he is away, a pack of unfriendly dogs guards the beach.
Practical
approx: the pin is the island, east of the anchorage; no published position. When his panga is on the beach Manu is home, so ask permission before exploring (French only; he is friendly). Without permission, stay off the island. With it, the south side has a lovely coastal ridge walk and tide pools. The reef between the island and the bay is barely passable even by dinghy.

Respecting a private island
