Yankee Town ruins & Lake Catherine (West Caicos)
21° 39.7′ N · 72° 28.1′ W
A ghost town of the West Caicos Sisal Company (1891–1903): stone buildings, cisterns, a railway causeway and a Burrell traction engine beside flamingo-filled Lake Catherine.
Practical
A short walk from the west-coast anchorage. Lake Catherine Nature Reserve (430 acres) is a prime flamingo and wading-bird habitat with an underwater cave system — don't disturb nesting birds.
Best for
Shore excursion from the West Caicos moorings
