Turtle Cove Anchorage (inside the reef)

21° 47.5′ N · 72° 13.7′ W · approximate

The designated north-shore anchorage off the Turtle Cove inlet, inside the barrier reef between Smith's Reef and the open Atlantic.

Practical

Coordinate is approximate: placed roughly 0.4 nm north of the Turtle Cove Marina basin inside the reef — confirm on a chart. Noonsite confirms a designated anchorage just off Turtle Cove Marina. Getting here means transiting Sellar's Cut and the coral-studded bay inside it; the marina's guide boat (VHF 16) is the safe way in. Keep clear of the boat channel and of Smith's Reef snorkelers. Exposed to northerly swell, which can also close the cut.

Best for

Anchoring near Turtle Cove restaurants and the best beach snorkel

Season

Settled trade-wind weather; avoid in northerly swell
