Six Hill Cays Anchorage
21° 27.7′ N · 71° 38.0′ W · approximate
Two isolated limestone islets with six cactus-covered hills on the eastern Caicos Bank, whose cliff-lined northwest side gives a lee in the trades — and occasional mantas, hammerheads and tigers from the nearby passage.
Practical
Coordinate approximate: just northwest of the cays (Visit TCI marker 21.4606, -71.63026). Visit TCI says fishermen use the leeward side for shelter in normal east trades and that snorkeling is excellent with exceptional clarity; the cays are within the Admiral Cockburn Land and Sea National Park (no take). No landing beach to speak of — the rock is sharp and cactus-covered. A natural first or last stop on the bank between Long Cay and the Caicos Bank waypoint.
Best for
Wild lee anchorage on the bank crossing
Season
E–SE trades; exposed in westerlies
