Sánchez Anchorage
19° 13.1′ N · 69° 36.8′ W
A fishing village at the head of Samaná Bay, where families clean and cook the day's catch beside colorful boats on the beach. Few foreign yachts ever come this far.
Practical
Waypoint from the Virgintino DR guide (~2015). Anchor off the fishing village rather than the commercial port. The jetty has fallen into disrepair: land the dinghy on the sand among the fishing boats. Locals will sell freshly cooked fish, crab and crayfish. The Río Yuna delta 2 nm west shoals to 2 ft at the mouth and is dinghy-only gunkholing.
