Salardup Island (West Naguarandup Cays)

9° 30.5′ N · 78° 47.6′ W · approximate

A picture-perfect palm islet in the West Naguarandup Cays with a thatched shelter used by day-trip ulus, white sand and a reef channel out to the outer reef.

Practical

Coordinate approximate: it is the position stamp of s/v Angel's 2010 post from this anchorage (09°30.45'N 078°47.56'W), not a surveyed point for the island. Snorkelling on the reef and channel; Angel met several nurse sharks and spotted eagle rays and advises against swimming across the shoals. Landing rules change: in 2018 Salardup charged $2 per person but beach landings were suspended because of a licensing dispute between the caretaker family and the Congreso, and dogs were not allowed on the cabana side (Noonsite). Ask before landing.
