Propane Refills via the Club Náutico Gate

10° 24.7′ N · 75° 32.5′ W · approximate

Cartagena has no fill station a dinghy can reach, so cruisers leave their propane bottles with the porter at the Club Náutico gate, who sends them to the filling plant and returns them full.

Practical

Coordinate is approximate (Club Náutico, OSM). Club Náutico Cruiser's Guide: take your bottles to the porter at the entrance gate; he can arrange the fill Monday to Friday; the fill station is about 25 minutes by taxi out of town; check the rate with the supplier first, since Club Náutico only facilitates the transaction for marina users. Small European butane bottles are filled with propane and may come back only 75% full for safety, because propane liquefies at higher pressure than butane. Allow a day or two and bring bottles in with valves and fittings labeled. Further along the coast, an ActiveCaptain contributor listed LP gas available at Isla Fuerte (2018).
