Propane Refills (Curaçao)
12° 5.1′ N · 68° 51.5′ W · approximate
Getting cooking gas filled in Curaçao takes planning: only bottles with safety valves are accepted and Camping Gaz cylinders cannot be refilled.
Practical
Noonsite Yachting Essentials (2026): no gas bottles without security valves will be refilled in Curaçao, and Camping Gaz bottles cannot be handled. Older cruiser arrangements (verify - may no longer run): a gas collector ('Propane Paul') picked up and returned tanks on Tuesdays and Fridays, and bottles could be left at the Fisherman's Harbour bar on Friday for Monday return - allow more than a week (Noonsite Spanish Water report 2009-2013; Virgintino 2015). A 2018 Noonsite comment describes buying a US-style aluminium propane tank (about 110 NAf) and regulator (about 50 NAf) at the Zeelandia hardware stores (Kooyman/Building Depot) and filling it at the Münzenberg filling station by bus from Spanish Water - prices old, verify locally. Ask on the Curaçao Cruisers Facebook group or the Spanish Water WhatsApp group (Noonsite). Coordinate approx: Fisherman's Harbour dinghy dock, the traditional drop-off point.
