Playa El Soldado (Guanaja)
16° 27.2′ N · 85° 51.8′ W
The beach where Columbus is said to have landed on his fourth voyage in 1502, and where Europeans first met cacao. It sits a short dinghy ride from the El Bight anchorage.
Practical
The coordinate is Playa El Soldado from OpenStreetMap. Wikipedia credits the 1502 landing at Soldado Beach. Anchor in El Bight (sand, about 20 ft, per a 2023 Noonsite report) and dinghy over. Bring bug spray, because sandflies are notorious on Guanaja beaches. The whole island has been a protected area since 2021.
