Playa Blanca (Barú)

10° 13.5′ N · 75° 36.5′ W

Barú's long white-sand beach facing the Rosario Islands - the most famous beach near Cartagena, lined with beach restaurants and packed with day-trippers, though its turquoise water is real.

Practical

OSM position. Reached by road over the Campo Elías Terán Dix bridge near Pasacaballos (Parques Nacionales) or by the island tours; the park says boats may not embark at Playa Blanca for other park sectors. The national park starts at Punta Gigante just north. Island tours from Cartagena typically include lunch and hours here (Wikivoyage). Busy from about 10 am to 3 pm when the day boats arrive and on weekends, holidays, Holy Week and mid-December to mid-January (see Playa Blanca Crowd Timing); quiet before 10 am and after the last boats leave around 5 pm. Yachts: Puerto Naito is the guide's nearby anchoring waypoint; approach in good light over the coral platform.
