Barú Southwest Beaches (Playa Paraíso, La Ceiba & Los Muertos)

10° 9.9′ N · 75° 40.1′ W

A chain of quieter named beaches along Barú's southwest shore around the Cholón lagoon - Playa La Ceiba to the north, Playa Paraíso at the lagoon mouth and Playa de los Muertos down toward Barú village - all within dinghy range of the Cholón anchorage.

Practical

Position is Playa Paraíso (OSM way 205551283). OSM also maps Playa La Ceiba at 10.17719 N, 75.65043 W and the Playa de Los Muertos locality at 10.13902 N, 75.67958 W; the boutique Hotel Agua Azul and its beach lie between. Spanish Wikipedia notes that most Barú beaches are private (owned by individuals or tourism businesses) - Playa Blanca is the only public one - so land respectfully and expect to buy something at the beach clubs. From the Cholón anchorage (national guide A05, 10°09'48.152"N 75°39'52.124"W) these are a short dinghy ride; on weekends the lagoon is packed with party boats. Park rules on music, litter and coral apply along this coast.
