A deep canyon-and-wall site near North West Point, where the West Bay reef top breaks into buttresses and drops into the blue.
Practical
Position is the DoE public mooring 'Orange Canyon' (2023 GPX); Virgintino lists the mooring at 61 ft. Exposed west side - a settled-trades or easterly-day site; untenable in a norther or westerly swell. Marine Park rules apply: use the DoE public mooring (free; white 18- or 24-inch buoy with a yellow stripe and yellow pick-up line; 18-inch for vessels up to 60 ft, 24-inch up to 100 ft; not in 25 knots or more; 3 hours or less; never leave the boat unattended - DoE brochure 2021), never anchor on coral, no take in Marine Parks.
