Old Port Royal Anchorage (Roatán)

16° 25.1′ N · 86° 16.1′ W · approximate

The far eastern end of the Port Royal harbour, below the hamlet of Old Port Royal — pirate-era history, overgrown fort ruins and pristine reefs, reachable only by boat.

Practical

Approximate: placed in the water off OSM's 'Old Port Royal' hamlet node (16.41996, -86.26909), checked against OSM coastline; not a sounded waypoint — enter the Port Royal reef only in good light with local waypoints (see the separate Port Royal Anchorage entry). The NW Caribbean wiki (2008-era) describes Port Royal as one of Roatán's quietest anchorages: dive buoys outside the reef, snorkelling at the Blue Hole, Horseshoe and a wreck off Fort George. Mango Creek Lodge (water access only) is in Port Royal. Cruise the east end with care.
