Kingston Port of Entry

17° 56.2′ N · 76° 51.3′ W

Jamaica's capital and south-coast clearance port, behind the Palisadoes spit, with the best provisioning on the island.

Practical

Position is Noonsite's harbour-entrance reference (17 56.20N, 076 51.29W). Follow the ship channel rather than shortcutting across charted shoals; Virgintino reports a spot charted at 8 ft had filled to 4-5 ft. Clearance is usually arranged through the Royal Jamaica Yacht Club (manager contact in the 2025 Noonsite report). No fees in office hours; a 2014 boat paid US$65 for Saturday overtime. Security: Virgintino warns not to anchor at Cow Bay (about 17 54.16N, 076 37.97W) or Bull Bay (about 17 55.99N, 076 40.31W) east of the harbour, citing attacks on anchored yachts. PriceSmart and the Bob Marley Museum are the classic shore errands.
