Ensenada del Hoyo Anchorage (Punta San Bernardo)

9° 41.9′ N · 75° 41.9′ W

A small, calm roadstead at Punta San Bernardo on the mainland, sheltered from wind and current next to the Isla Boquerón islet - the northern limit of the Gulf of Morrosquillo and a quiet alternative to the island anchorages.

Practical

Waypoint A19 from the national cruising guide (9°41'51.529"N 75°41'53.953"W). The guide also gives an anchoring box at Punta San Bernardo between 9°40'42"N and 9°41'00"N, 75°41'42"W and 75°42'00"W, and describes a small, pleasant inlet protected from winds and currents, food available nearby, the Sanguaré nature reserve and Berrugas village close by. In settled weather good anchoring is possible almost anywhere in the gulf over soft green mud. Tourist and fishing launches from Tolú pass in front of the inlet. Outside the Cartagena port-captaincy limit (Punta Rincón); Coveñas is the official anchorage for the gulf.
