Dunn's River & Mammee Bay Reefs (Ocho Rios Marine Park Zone B)

18° 25.3′ N · 77° 8.2′ W · approximate

The western stretch of the Ocho Rios Marine Park, from Mammee Bay past Dunn's River Falls. Its reef 'Jewel' was proposed as a no-take sanctuary for its high fish density, and Mammee Bay is one of the operators' regular snorkel stops.

Practical

Coordinate is NEPA's water-based boundary vertex E of draft Conservation Zone B (18 25 16.33N, 077 08 13.00W), off the Dunn's River shore: approximate as a snorkel position. Zone B runs from Mammee Bay/Drax Hall (land mark 18 26 24N, 077 10 15W) east to just west of Ocho Rios. Draft zoning rules: no anchoring, mooring, fishing or fish feeding; non-motorized use only. The 50 m wide No-Wake Zone off Dunn's River Falls (6 knots maximum, motor craft in and out only, no swimming or anchoring) serves the excursion boats that land at the falls dock. Do not snorkel in that lane. Visit by dinghy from Ocho Rios in calm trades only: the north coast is wide open to northers.
