Discovery Bay Anchorage

A round bay dominated by the Kaiser bauxite terminal (Port Rhoades), with a well-protected anchorage at its east end off Seco Beach.
Practical
Position is Virgintino's waypoint at the entrance buoys (18 28.40N, 077 24.40W). Best anchorage is at the extreme east end of the bay in 10-12 ft with good holding, just north of Seco Beach; the anchorage behind the reef to the west is also used. Virgintino rates the east side Good as a norther refuge. Discovery Bay also has clearance facilities, but they are mainly commercial. Hotels, shops and restaurants in town.
