Bloody Bay Anchorage (Little Cayman)

19° 41.3′ N · 80° 4.6′ W · approximate

A fair-weather anchorage on Little Cayman's north-west shore, right over the shallow reef top of Bloody Bay Wall.

Practical

Coordinate approximate (inside the reef off Bloody Bay); Virgintino: anchor in about 15 ft - fair in normal trades but it can roll, especially at night when the wind drops; no place to be in a norther or northwester (go to South Hole Sound). This is a Marine Reserve: anchor only in sand, boats of 60 ft or less, no grappling hook, chain off the coral; otherwise use a DoE mooring by day. A 2023 cruiser notes the Caymans supply free moorings and expect you to use them.

Best for

Day stop over the wall in settled trades
