Black Rock Canyon (Guanaja)

16° 31.0′ N · 85° 51.8′ W · approximate

Guanaja's showpiece volcanic dive: a maze of caves, tunnels and deep cracks where you round a corner to find a sleeping shark or a big moray, all wrapped in silversides, glassy sweepers and barracuda.

Practical

Approximate: the dive resorts give no waypoint; placed in the water just off Black Rock islet at the island's north-east tip (OSM 16.51457, -85.86269), inferred from the name — confirm with your dive operator. Clark's Cay calls Michael's Rock (max 70 ft) a good practice dive before Black Rock Canyons; Dunbar Rock lists Black Rock Canyon among its moored swim-through sites. Dive with a Guanaja operator; overhead environment.
