The mainland port town's supermarkets are cheaper than Bocas, and worth the trip if you are hauled out at the boatyard or making a big provisioning run.

Position is the OpenStreetMap node for Super Centro (Carretera Almirante–El Empalme). Súper Centro Bocatoreño (9.29336, -82.39962), sm Los Mellos (9.29208, -82.40487) and a dozen smaller minisupers line the same road (OSM). A 2019 cruiser report puts Almirante supermarket food 10–20% cheaper than Bocas and recommends Tsunami restaurant and the Hotel 888 near the boatyard (Noonsite). Water taxis run Bocas–Almirante in about 20–30 minutes (Marina Carenero).
