Tropic of Cancer marker (Long Island)

23° 26.2′ N · 75° 12.2′ W

A roadside marker where the Tropic of Cancer crosses Long Island's northern quarter. South of it you are officially in the tropics.

Practical

Position is the OpenStreetMap attraction node beside the Queen's Highway, north of Thompson Bay. Waterway Guide gives the Tropic's latitude off the west coast as 23°26.134'N. Note that the well-known 'Tropic of Cancer Beach' is on Little Exuma, not Long Island. A quick photo stop on any island drive.
