Orange Creek Beach

24° 38.5′ N · 75° 42.9′ W · approximate

A long, empty sandy beach off the Orange Creek settlement at Cat Island's north end, beside the shallow creek mouth where rays feed on the flats.

Practical

Coordinate is the ActiveCaptain Orange Creek anchorage marker off the beach. The old dock is badly damaged, but the beach is easy for a dinghy landing; the small beach about 150 yards south of the store is handy for shopping. The creek mouth is very shallow at low tide. Lee-side beach, good in E-N winds and rolly in SE swell.

Best for

A beach walk and creek wade with groceries close by

Season

Nov–May in E–N winds
