Long Cay west-coast reef snorkel

22° 36.6′ N · 74° 20.3′ W · approximate

A shallow reef runs along Long Cay's west coast beside an empty white beach, with sea fans and brain, lettuce, finger and star corals sheltering butterflyfish, parrotfish, snappers, grunts and coneys in the rock crevices.

Practical

Position approximate: placed west of the Fortune Island West anchorage, from Lindblad expedition reports (2022 and 2023) of a shallow reef along the west-coast beach. Wind and waves make it choppy when the trades are fresh or north of east; best in light E–SE weather from the lee-side anchorage. No services on Long Cay.
