Landrail Point settlement stores

22° 48.2′ N · 74° 20.3′ W

The small settlement on Crooked Island's west coast closest to the anchorage and marina, with a couple of grocery and convenience stores, Gibson's restaurant, a clinic, a library and the island's only public dock, cut from the rock and coral as a small-craft basin.

Practical

Position is the Landrail Point settlement node in OpenStreetMap. Stores carry basics only and restock from the weekly mailboat from Nassau, so shop the day after it arrives (it often runs late in weather). Travel guides list Gibson's Restaurant here, a guest house opposite the supermarket, and a car rental; current names and hours change, so ask ashore. Crooked Island Lodge gives free rides to the local store about 2.5 miles from the marina when staff are available. Visitors cannot get cash on the island (the Colonel Hill post office offers banking only to local account holders), so bring Bahamian or US dollars. Noonsite: the only dock is at Landrail Point, about 3.25 nm south of Bird Rock Lighthouse; beware underwater projections. Waterway Guide notes fuel can be taken at the government dock in the small-craft basin.
