Crooked Island mailboat

22° 48.2′ N · 74° 20.3′ W · approximate

The weekly mailboat from Nassau is the islands' lifeline for groceries, fuel and parts; Noonsite calls it the only regular contact with the outside world, and provisioning on Crooked and Acklins revolves around its arrival.

Practical

Position approximate (Landrail Point, where Wikivoyage says the boat calls; sometimes Spring Point on Acklins). Wikivoyage names the 'United Star', 12-14 hours from Nassau; a travel guide says it arrived on three Fridays a month before 2020. Crooked Island Lodge: orders for the weekly supply boat must reach its office by 12:00 pm Monday for Friday delivery, and the boat often slips to the following Monday in weather. Cruisers can have parts or provisions shipped by arrangement with the lodge.
