Dive· San Salvador· Bahamas — Eleuthera, Andros & the Out Islands
La Crevasse (San Salvador)
23° 56.4′ N · 74° 33.2′ W · approximate
A 200-ft maze of crevices and tunnels near the French Bay blowhole, opening onto one of the steepest walls in the Bahamas (40 ft to 150 ft).
Practical
Position is approximate: placed off French Bay on the south coast from 'near the blow hole at French Bay' (Sail Abacos). San Salvador's wall sites carry dive-operator moorings - Noonsite says to use one of the 50-plus mooring buoys rather than anchor when diving on your own. Most sites are on the lee (west and south) side, 10-20 minutes by boat from Riding Rock Marina, with the reef starting around 40 ft (Riding Rock). Remote island: dive conservatively. Main crevice starts at 100 ft; advanced divers.
Best for
Advanced cave-like wall dive
