Hawk's Nest Creek

24° 8.7′ N · 75° 31.7′ W · approximate

The tidal creek that feeds Hawk's Nest marina runs into the mangroves, a dinghy ride for turtles, rays and small sharks. A manatee has been seen visiting the basin.

Practical

Coordinate is midway between the ActiveCaptain creek-inlet and marina positions. Go in the dinghy near slack, because the creek runs hard on the ebb and flood. Reports from 2014-2015 describe turtles, rays and sharks; a manatee and a stingray were seen in the harbour. Dump fish offal in the river as signposted, never in the marina.

Best for

A dinghy wildlife ride from the marina
