Hatchet Bay Harbour moorings
25° 21.0′ N · 76° 29.6′ W · approximate
The handful of mooring balls in Hatchet Bay, some once run by the Front Porch restaurant and two by Farrington's Boaters Haven, are a convenience when they exist but a gamble in a blow.
Practical
Approximate: placed at the ActiveCaptain 'Concrete block' marker, which records the block base of a detached mooring 50 ft north of a floating ball. Charts show many moorings; Waterway Guide says most have been missing for years except two at Farrington's Boaters Haven on the east side. History: free government moorings in 2014 (Sail Magazine counted nine, all occupied); later reported 'condemned' and leased to the Front Porch (marked FP, pay at the restaurant); several balls broke loose and one boat dragged a mooring in 10 kn (ActiveCaptain, 2016 to 2019). If you pick one up, inspect it, back it up with your own anchor in any blow, and verify fees locally.
Best for
A quick overnight if a ball is free and the weather is settled
