Flamingo Bay Anchorage (Rum Cay)

23° 41.0′ N · 74° 55.9′ W · approximate

A quiet, wind-protected anchorage at Rum Cay's western end, with a long beach and coral heads to weave around on the way in.

Practical

Cruising World (2023): protected from the trades at the western edge of the island; charts show a submerged wreck, so watch the depth sounder and pick through coral heads by eye. Point is approximate, placed inside the OSM-mapped Flamingo Bay about 400 m off the beach; no published anchoring coordinates were found. From here to Port Nelson is about 6 nm in a straight line but Cruising World notes it became about 15 nm of tacking into an east wind. No services ashore.

Best for

First Rum Cay stop coming from Conception or Long Island
