Hike· Rum Cay· Bahamas — Eleuthera, Andros & the Out Islands
Hartford Cave petroglyphs (Rum Cay)
23° 42.3′ N · 74° 51.6′ W · approximate
A cave on Rum Cay's north side whose walls carry Lucayan drawings and carvings - perhaps the largest display of such rock art in the Bahamas.
Practical
Bahamas tourism names it Hartford Cave; Noonsite and Wikipedia place a cave with Lucayan drawings and carvings in the north of the island. The point is only the north-central coast of Rum Cay (no published coordinates) - ask in Port Nelson for a guide or directions, as it is on private/remote land with no signposting. Bring a torch, and never touch the carvings.
Best for
A cultural outing with a local guide
