Current Cut shoreline walk

25° 24.2′ N · 76° 47.6′ W

A walk from The Current settlement down to Current Cut to watch the tide race through, then back up the west shore to the North Beach anchorage.

Practical

Coordinate is the Eleuthera Map site marker for Current Cut at the settlement end. A 2012 ActiveCaptain reviewer anchored off North Beach: 'from town you can walk along the cut and see the entire thing, and finish by hiking along the west shore back up to the anchorage'. Land the dinghy on the beach near where the road turns (2012 review). Eleuthera Map suggests watching on a rising tide because the ebb can be turbid; the current can run very fast in the cut. A local guide, Foster Neilly, ran drift-snorkel trips in the cut and settlement tours in 2017-2019 (ActiveCaptain; numbers 242-448-1609 or 242-335-1745 as given then, verify).

Best for

Watching the cut before you run it
