Current Cut drift dive/snorkel

25° 24.4′ N · 76° 47.8′ W

A roller-coaster drift through the 100-yard-wide cut between Eleuthera and Current Island, where the tide rips at up to 10 knots over a sea-fan-covered rock bottom full of fish — about ten minutes of flying.

Practical

Position from marinas.com Current Cut Inlet. Depths 30-50 ft (up to 60 ft). Not for casual divers: go with a local dive operator, wear a wetsuit against coral scrapes, and keep a boat tending you. Incoming tide preferred for visibility (outgoing water can be turbid). Snorkellers should only drift near slack with a dinghy following. Keep clear of vessels transiting the cut.

Best for

Experienced divers wanting a fast drift

Season
