Cat Island Rake 'n' Scrape Festival
24° 37.3′ N · 75° 40.3′ W · approximate
Cat Island's annual Rake & Scrape Festival celebrates the Bahamas' traditional rake 'n' scrape music with bands and quadrille dancing, held every June.
Practical
The Bahamas tourism site says it is held every June. In 2017 cruisers anchored at Bennett's Harbour sailed up to Arthur's Town for it, so the coordinate is the Arthur's Town settlement point (approx); confirm the venue and dates for the year you go. June is the start of hurricane season and Arthur's Town is an open roadstead. Bennett's Harbour, 4 nm south, is the protected anchorage most visitors use, getting a ride or a rental car to the festival.
