Xanadu Beach
26° 29.5′ N · 78° 42.2′ W
A sheltered crescent at the western end of the Lucaya south shore, named for the Xanadu Beach resort where Howard Hughes lived out his last reclusive years in the 1970s.
Practical
Position from OpenStreetMap. The Bahamas tourism site describes it as about three miles from the International Bazaar with water sports, straw goods and food; SailAbacos reports the old resort as closed and the beach quiet. Shallow water well offshore. Reach it by road; the canals of the Xquisite and Knowles marinas are just east.
Best for
A quiet swim near the Xanadu canals
