Sugar Beach Anchorage (Beach Access)

25° 44.5′ N · 77° 49.9′ W

A sand-over-hardpan anchorage off the beaches near the south end of Great Harbour Cay's east coast, with big stingrays, the odd shark and reef fish on the cay to the east.

Practical

ActiveCaptain position. Sand over hard bottom: a February 2020 report found softer patches with the sounder and held through 20-25 kt SE to SW to W in 9.5 ft. Charted rocks were not seen. Dinghy toward Shark Creek only with care at low tide: sandbars surface and depths go to inches. The marker's note calls this beach Sugar Beach; the island site puts Sugar Beach and its caves at the north end, so the name is used loosely.

Best for
