Shark Creek Mangrove Dinghy Route
25° 43.1′ N · 77° 50.8′ W
A narrow mangrove creek through the south end of Great Harbour Cay, closing to a green tunnel before opening onto a bay and Shelling Beach on the east side; turtles and rays all the way.
Practical
ActiveCaptain position (creek entrance). By dinghy, head south from the Great Harbour cut about two miles with the small island to port, turn east into the inlet, and take the second channel on the left (a small white buoy hangs in a branch at the fork). About 5 ft at high tide inside, but the entrance is shallow at low tide: go mid-tide or higher. A 2016 report found under 2 ft an hour before high tide and ran with the outboard tilted up. Tight for kayaks a third of the way in. Good paddleboarding (island site).
Best for
A mangrove adventure by dinghy, kayak or paddleboard
