Pensacola Cay South Anchorage

26° 58.2′ N · 77° 39.1′ W

A quiet spot under the high bluffs on the south side of Pensacola Cay, used after cold fronts when north and north-east winds make the other bays untenable.

Practical

ActiveCaptain position. Grassy sand with good holding at the marker; you can probably find open sand closer to shore; no noticeable current (2021). After a front, a boat had less than 10 knots here while it blew 20+ outside, with some swell wrapping round but not uncomfortable. About 12 ft on the approach (listing). Exposed to the south.

Best for

Post-front shelter in north and north-east winds
