Manjack Cay Anchorage
26° 49.0′ N · 77° 21.8′ W
The cruiser favourite north of the Whale: a bay tucked between the south end of Manjack and Crab Cay, with clear sand, beach trails ashore and turtles and rays in the creeks — a privately owned island whose owners let visiting sailors anchor and explore.
Practical
Waterway Guide 'Manjack - Crab Cay' position N 26° 49.050' W 077° 21.780', depth 7-9 ft; rated the best-protected anchorage in the area with excellent holding. Seven or eight boats often compete for space. The north end shoals quickly and turns grassy, so anchor in 9 ft or more toward the Crab Cay shore. Good shelter from N through E (one guide calls this end Herrington Harbour); leave ahead of a cold front's westerlies. No moorings, no fees, no stores, water or fuel — nearest supplies are 4 nm south at Green Turtle Cay. The cay is private (locally called Nunjack): stay on the trails and respect the owners' signs.
Best for
Base for Manjack's trails, mangrove creek and Atlantic beaches
Season
Nov–Jun; exposed to W/NW frontal winds
