Cistern Cay South Anchorage

25° 45.9′ N · 77° 53.0′ W

A grassy pocket south of Cistern Cay that gives good protection from west through north to east when a strong norther comes through.

Practical

ActiveCaptain position. Thick grass with a few sandy patches; search for sand. No noticeable current. Ferries between Great Harbour Cay and CocoCay run from early morning until after dark, so show a good anchor light. Easy dinghy to the government dock and the stores. The reviewer caught a mutton snapper drifting between the rocks (April 2024). Cistern Cay itself is private.

Best for

Hiding from a heavy north blow
