Cherokee Grocery and Deli

26° 16.9′ N · 77° 3.2′ W · approximate

The village shop in Cherokee - basic groceries for top-ups, plus a deli/cafe counter reported by visitors - the only provisioning between Little Harbour and Schooner Bay.

Practical

Coordinate is the Cherokee settlement centre (Wikipedia); the shop's exact location and name were not verifiable - ask in the village. ActiveCaptain (Cherokee Point anchorage) lists 'a grocery store is available'; rental listings mention the local grocery store, a deli/cafe, a shell museum and a gas station within walking distance. A 2014 visitor wrote there were no restaurants in Cherokee - eat at Pete's Pub (Little Harbour) instead. Expect limited stock and island prices; bring cash. For a full shop go to Marsh Harbour (Maxwell's and other supermarkets, about 25 miles by road). ActiveCaptain and press reports predate or postdate Hurricane Dorian (Category 5, Sept 1, 2019) as dated; re-check businesses locally.
