Channel Cay Bight Anchorage (Pelican Cays)

26° 25.0′ N · 76° 59.9′ W

A small deep-water bight behind Channel Cay, at the north end of the Pelican Cays, that blocks the prevailing seas better than the open banks nearby.

Practical

About 10 ft (one report 9 ft) over sand and weed - take time to get through the weed. Enter and leave on a 180/000 deg True track from the Pelican Cay-Pelican Harbour route for clear water. Holding worsening: a March 2019 report found only flat rock (sand likely scoured by storms). Tide floods N and ebbs S here. Channel Cay is private but the beach is used for dinghy landing. Nearby navigation aids on the reef edge have been missing (2015-2018 reports) - navigate visually and with the Explorer route. ActiveCaptain community reports date from 2011-2019, before Hurricane Dorian (Category 5, Sept 1, 2019) hit Abaco; re-check bottom, markers and businesses locally.
