Black Point Anchorage (Pelican Harbour)
26° 24.2′ N · 77° 1.7′ W · approximate
A small anchorage tucked into the Great Abaco shore at Black Point, on the west side of Pelican Harbour, with protection from south and west.
Practical
Coordinate is approximate: the ActiveCaptain marker (26.40353, -77.0295) falls on the shoreline in OpenStreetMap, so it is shifted about 150 m east into open water; one crew anchored 0.3 mi north of the marker about 400 ft off a small islet. About 6-7 ft at low tide on sand-grass; holding reported excellent by some and hard to find sand by others - look for a sand patch. Good in SE-SW 15-20 kt; not for E or N winds. Small beach for walking or dogs; some trash ashore; no facilities. ActiveCaptain community reports date from 2011-2019, before Hurricane Dorian (Category 5, Sept 1, 2019) hit Abaco; re-check bottom, markers and businesses locally.
