Bamboo Cay North Anchorage (Bight of Abaco)
26° 49.8′ N · 77° 30.7′ W
A remote, quiet anchorage on the Great Abaco side of the Bight of Abaco, at the eastern end of the shallow route from Spence Rock.
Practical
ActiveCaptain position. Once in the Bight, depths are generally 12-15 ft or more until you approach land, where you must read the water. A 3.5 ft catamaran from Spence Rock anchored in 6 ft 9 in at sunset; the bottom is more rock and small coral than sand, so the Rocna took some pulling to catch; out of the southerly swell in an 8-knot east wind; very quiet and dark (2018). Listing note: 'a tough place to anchor'. BTC signal. No services.
Best for
Solitude in the Bight for shoal-draft boats
