Sampson Cay and Norman's Cay — what is NOT there
24° 36.3′ N · 76° 49.2′ W
Two cays that still appear in marina directories as operating facilities but are not usable service stops. Planning a fuel or water diversion to either will waste a day.
Practical
SAMPSON CAY: the club and marina was taken out of commercial use in 2013 and has NOT reopened; the cay sold in 2023 and visitation is by invitation only. The outer harbour anchorage is still usable. Directories still listing '14 slips' are wrong. NORMAN'S CAY: MacDuff's bar has reopened and the beach club is a lunch stop; breakwater construction for a future marina is under way. As of the latest guide data there is NO operational slip dockage, NO fuel, NO water and NO trash disposal. Some directories advertise 'Norman's Cay Marina, 37 slips, fuel dock' — this is developer marketing and conflicts with cruiser-guide reporting.
