Pig Beach (Big Major Spot)
24° 11.0′ N · 76° 27.4′ W
The original swimming pigs — 20-25 feral hogs and piglets that paddle out from a white beach on an uninhabited cay to mug arriving dinghies for food. Absurd, chaotic and unavoidable.
Practical
Go EARLY before 0900 or late afternoon; midday is wall-to-wall tour boats from Nassau. Do not feed bread, junk food or anything salty — pigs have died from tourist feeding; vegetables or nothing. Keep hands away from mouths and do not get between a sow and piglets.
Best for
The Exumas' signature wildlife stop, done early
