March climate — air, water, wind and rain

23° 30.8′ N · 75° 45.8′ W

March is one of the driest and most pleasant months in the Exumas — warm days, cool nights, and the coldest water of the year, which matters for anyone planning long snorkelling sessions.

Practical

AIR: average high about 26C / 79F, overnight low about 23C / 73F. Nights behind a front drop into the high 60s F with a raw wind chill on deck — bring fleece and long trousers, which surprises most first-timers. WATER: approximately 24-25C / 75-77F. February and March are the COLDEST water months. A 1-2mm shorty or rash guard makes multi-hour snorkelling much more comfortable, especially in the cuts where cooler Sound water floods in. RAINFALL: about 34mm across roughly 8 days — March is the driest month of the year. WIND: prevailing E to SE at 12-18kt between fronts, 20kt+ and squalls during frontal passages.
