Tobago Hurricane and Rainy Season
11° 14.4′ N · 60° 40.9′ W · approximate
Tobago sits at the southern fringe of the hurricane belt: storms are rare, but Tobago is more exposed to tropical storms than Trinidad, and the June-December rains bring squalls.
Practical
Position is the island centroid (approx). Noonsite (June 2026): dry season January-May, rainy season June-December; day temperatures about 30-34°C (86-93°F), nights 23-27°C. Hurricanes rarely hit Trinidad and Tobago, but strong tropical disturbances occur June to November, and Tobago is more vulnerable to tropical storms. Many insurers require boats to summer south of 12°40'N, which includes Tobago; Hurricane Flora (1963) is the island's landmark storm. Some cruisers spend hurricane season on the Charlotteville moorings, but there is no hurricane hole or haul-out on Tobago: the yards are at Chaguaramas, Trinidad.
