Cascreole Restaurant and Beach Bar (Castara)

11° 16.8′ N · 60° 41.7′ W

A quirky beachfront restaurant on Castara's Big Bay, decorated with fishing nets and plastic squid, serving fresh seafood and grills right on the beach. Thursday is bonfire night with a steel band.

Practical

Position from OpenStreetMap on Castara Big Bay. Wanderlog (aggregating Google and Tripadvisor reviews, undated) lists hours as Tuesday to Sunday 10am to 9pm, closed Monday; verify locally. Dishes reviewers mention: shrimp, kingfish, BBQ chicken, a prawn combo, coconut curried fish, stewed chicken and lamb. There is no fixed menu, so agree prices before ordering; service is slow because the kitchen cooks for one table at a time; wine choice is limited. The downstairs bar has pool and football on TV. Landing a dinghy on Castara beach can be dangerous in swell (a cruiser swamped theirs in 2025); in a northerly swell come by road instead. Many Castara places close at the end of the winter season.
